Gwangju City announced on the 20th that it will implement a 'Comprehensive Plan' to prevent medical service gaps during the Lunar New Year holiday and to provide transportation convenience for visitors to cemeteries.
To this end, the city will operate a comprehensive situation room for six days from the 25th to the 30th, including the temporary holiday on the 27th, to thoroughly prepare for various disasters and incidents such as heavy snow and cold waves. In addition, through the 120 Call Center and other channels, the city will provide information on the operation status of emergency medical institutions, LP gas supply businesses, and civil document issuance machines during the holiday period.
This comprehensive plan will be implemented over three weeks from the 13th to the 30th, covering three areas, ten items, and 49 tasks: ▲Stabilizing citizens' daily lives ▲Emergency medical care and prevention of infectious diseases and food poisoning ▲Price stabilization.
The citizen life stabilization area will focus on 37 tasks in six items: ▲Disaster and safety management ▲Traffic flow and convenience for homecoming and cemetery visitors ▲Support for marginalized neighbors ▲Stable supply of tap water and fuel ▲Creating a clean and pleasant environment ▲Establishing strict public service discipline.
To ensure a safe holiday for citizens, the city will maintain a disaster management system to prepare for heavy snow and cold waves, operate a wildfire prevention situation room, and actively respond to safety accidents by inspecting multi-use facilities.
For the convenience of cemetery visitors, city buses No. 15 (Jiwon), 86 (Yongjeon), and 518 will extend their routes to Yeongnak Park from the 27th to the 30th. On the day of Seollal (the 29th), the number of buses on route 518, which passes through Gwangju Intercity Bus Terminal, will be increased as part of a special city bus transportation plan.
To ensure that all citizens can enjoy a warm holiday, the city will focus on identifying and supporting households in welfare blind spots and crisis situations, and provide seamless care services for vulnerable seniors, people with disabilities, and low-income children.
The emergency medical care plan will be implemented with two items and five detailed tasks: ▲Maintaining a thorough quarantine and medical response system ▲Preventing infectious diseases and food poisoning.
To prevent medical service gaps during the holiday, 26 emergency medical institutions and hospitals and pharmacies that remain open will be operated to provide uninterrupted medical services. The list of designated on-call medical institutions can be found on the Emergency Medical Portal, and information on hospitals and pharmacies open during the holiday can be checked on the city and district websites.
The price stabilization plan will be implemented with two items and seven detailed tasks: ▲Price stabilization and revitalization of the local economy ▲Resolving delayed wage payments for workers.
The city will prepare measures to stabilize people's livelihoods and prices for the holiday by inspecting the implementation of price labeling on items with high inflation concerns. At the same time, it will promote the use of traditional markets, local food direct stores, and direct agricultural product markets to revitalize the local economy.
To invigorate the stagnant local economy, the city will implement a "Gwangju Sangsaeng Card 10% Limited-Time Special Discount" for the month of January, which includes the Lunar New Year holiday.
Together with Gwangju Urban Corporation, the city will hold a "Joint Campaign to Reduce Plastic Flowers" at Yeongnak Park on the day of Seollal (the 29th), as it did during last year's Chuseok. Fresh flowers will be distributed to cemetery visitors instead of artificial ones, promoting the reduction of plastic waste and eco-friendly memorial culture.
The "Joint Memorial Altar for Victims of the Jeju Air Passenger Plane Disaster," located on the first floor of Jeonil Building 245, will remain open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the holiday period.
Park Yunwon, Director of the Autonomous Administration Division, stated, "We will implement a thorough comprehensive plan for stabilizing citizens' lives in all areas, including disaster, safety, water supply, transportation, environment, and sanitation, so that returning visitors and citizens can spend a safe and comfortable holiday."
