According to the county on the 20th, about 350 Hanwoo cattle were auctioned and traded at the livestock market that day, attended by Governor Lee Byungno, Council Chairperson Jeong Cheolwon, county council members, and Kang Jongmun, head of Damyang Livestock Cooperative.
In a conversation with Hanwoo farmers, Governor Lee stated, "To stabilize the management of livestock farms suffering from the decline in local Hanwoo prices, we will promptly execute 11.4 billion KRW across 68 subsidy projects, including special feed purchase support, and ease livestock-related licensing regulations to resolve management uncertainties."
Governor Lee continued, "We increased support for organic fertilizers from 580,000 bags in 2022 to 1,050,000 bags last year, which has shown results in addressing the chronic issue of livestock manure disposal. Through cyclic livestock-crop farming, we also expect to contribute to the production of high-quality agricultural products."
Meanwhile, Damyang Livestock Market has been holding auctions once a week (every Sunday) since its first auction in October 1994, trading an average of 330 Hanwoo cattle per session submitted by Damyang County livestock farmers. Equipped with an electronic auction system, the market handles about 16,000 Hanwoo cattle annually, contributing to increased income for livestock farmers.
