Samsung C&T Resort Division's Everland will offer traditional game experiences for 9 days during the Lunar New Year holiday. In particular, visitors can experience Korea's unique play culture, which has recently gained worldwide attention through popular dramas.
Samsung C&T announced on the 20th that it will hold a special event called 'Exciting K-Play Festival' for 9 days from the 25th of this month to the 2nd of next month, coinciding with the extended Lunar New Year holiday due to the designation of temporary holidays.
During the Lunar New Year holiday, Everland offers not only the chance to experience Korea's unique play culture but also various festive contents such as New Year's fortune-telling by Moomin, daily fireworks shows, and abundant customer participation events.
At Carnival Plaza, the 'Exciting K-Play Festival' special event will be held every day from 11:30 AM to 5 PM during the holiday period. Visitors can freely experience five traditional games featured in dramas?ttakji-chigi (paper tile flipping), biseok-chigi (stone knocking), gonggi-nori (Korean jacks), top spinning, and jegi-chagi (shuttlecock kicking)?by moving along the track drawn on the ground.
Participants can form teams of three to five people with family, friends, or lovers and enjoy exciting competitions in each game. The team that wins the most games among the five traditional games set up on-site will be declared the winner, making the games thrilling and competitive.
Additionally, on the stairs at Carnival Plaza, a mini board game zone is set up where players play rock-paper-scissors to reach the top first and win, evoking childhood memories.
The stairs feature fun missions such as 'move forward 3 spaces,' 'move back 2 spaces,' 'swap places with an opponent,' and 'treat snacks,' which are randomly assigned to add excitement to the rock-paper-scissors game.
At Everland Homebridge Cabin Hostel, famous for its log cabin accommodations, a traditional game experience space featuring jegi-chagi and tuho (arrow throwing) is set up in the plaza to provide enjoyment for guests during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Especially at Carnival Plaza, where the 'Exciting K-Play Festival' takes place, a social network service (SNS) photo certification event is held. Visitors who take pictures enjoying traditional games and upload them on their Instagram with the required hashtags will be entered into a draw to win abundant prizes.
Prizes include rounds at Anseong Benest Golf Club, which has become more accessible thanks to the opening of the Sejong-Pocheon Expressway section from Guri to Yongin to Anseong, Yanolja gift certificates, Amorepacific Lunar New Year gift sets, Panasonic handheld steam irons, Louisbao and Huibao hanbok dolls, among others.
Moreover, at Carnival Plaza, the characters Lenny and Lara dressed in hanbok take photos with customers four times daily, and staff wearing hanbok greet visitors at the Everland main gate.
Next to Carnival Plaza, Magic Time Restaurant offers special Lunar New Year menus such as tteok-mandu-guk (rice cake and dumpling soup) and traditional snacks. The merchandise store also introduces 28 new Lunar New Year-themed goods, including hanbok doll costumes and bokjori (lucky bag) dolls, allowing visitors to fully enjoy the festive atmosphere.
At Everland, where the Wintertopia winter festival is underway, there are also unique contents to spend a special Lunar New Year with Moomin.
At the Four Seasons Garden, transformed into a Nordic Forest, a special event called 'Moomin Photo Time & Lucky Fishing' will be held from the 25th to the 30th, where visitors can take pictures with the cute Moomin character and receive a card wishing for good fortune in the new year.
This event is held four times a day and anyone can participate by lining up on-site. Participants can randomly draw cards containing various messages such as health, happiness, love, and wealth through a fishing game, making it fun to predict their fortune for the year.
Everland's 'Moomin Fireworks,' the nation's first Moomin IP (intellectual property) multimedia show, will also be expanded and held every evening during the holiday period to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
Additionally, various online and offline participation events will be held to give abundant gifts to customers for the Lunar New Year.
During the holiday, visitors to Everland can participate in an online roulette event via the mobile app, where they can win generous prizes randomly, including annual unlimited passes to Everland, spring season invitation tickets, Sanrio Characters popcorn containers, gift cards, and more.
At Everland Zoo, visitors who visit at least three of the five locations?Panda World, Tiger Valley, Butterfly Dream Garden, and others?and collect online mission stamps will receive random prizes such as Som Points (usable like cash at Everland), Aibao mugs, and tiger popcorn, given to all participants.
