Drug Use Again in Detention During Trial... 'High School Rapper 2' Yoon Byung-ho's Appeal Dismissed
Appealed Suspended Sentence for Drug Use in Detention
Court Dismisses Appeal, Citing “Coking” Method Confirmed by Evidence
Rapper Yoon Byung-ho (24, stage name Bulli Da Bastard), who was on trial for drug use and was sentenced to a suspended prison term after using drugs again in detention, appealed the first trial verdict but the appeal was dismissed.
The Criminal Appeals Division 3 of Suwon District Court (Chief Judge Jang Jun-hyun) dismissed Yoon's appeal on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act (psychotropic substances) on the grounds of factual error, legal misinterpretation, and excessive sentencing, and upheld the original verdict, Yonhap News reported on the 18th. Previously, Yoon was sentenced to 8 months in prison with a 2-year suspension in the first trial.
The appellate court explained the reason for dismissing the appeal, stating, "Considering the circumstances recognized by the evidence lawfully collected and examined by the original court, it is acknowledged that the defendant used narcotics by the so-called 'coking' method while incarcerated at Incheon Detention Center."

Fellow inmates testified during the trial that "when the defendant received sleeping pills in the evening, he ground them into powder and inhaled them." At that time, Yoon was on trial for charges related to purchasing, possessing, smoking, or using narcotics such as marijuana, fentanyl, and philopon.
During the first trial, Yoon claimed that this was a so-called 'Pongdang incident,' where someone else secretly administered drugs to him, but the court did not accept this. The court reasoned that it was difficult for someone else to make the defendant take unprescribed drugs without his knowledge, and there was no other explanation for the psychotropic substances detected in his urine other than his own use, thus rejecting Yoon's claim.
Separately, Yoon was indicted on charges of purchasing, possessing, smoking, or using narcotics such as marijuana, fentanyl, and philopon from January 2018 to July 2022. He was also charged with assaulting an acquaintance with a blunt weapon at his home in October 2020 and assaulting a minor by calling them to a music studio in February of the following year. He was sentenced to 7 years in prison for these cases in December 2023 and is currently serving his sentence.
