Kang Jeong-hye, Non-standing Member of the Human Rights Commission, Withdraws Agenda on 'Guaranteeing Yoon's Right to Defense'
Kang Jeong-hye, a non-standing member of the National Human Rights Commission of Korea (NHRCK), voluntarily withdrew the proposal concerning the so-called 'Guarantee of President Yoon Seok-yeol's Right to Defense.'
On the morning of the 17th, the NHRCK announced that Non-standing Member Kang submitted a withdrawal letter regarding the agenda titled '(Urgent) Recommendations for Overcoming the National Crisis Caused by the Declaration of Martial Law.'
The agenda included recommendations to the Constitutional Court and investigative agencies to "thoroughly guarantee President Yoon's right to defense in the impeachment trial," and to "investigate President Yoon without detention."

With Ven. Wonmyeong (birth name Kim Jong-min), the temple manager of Bongeunsa Temple, resigning from the non-standing committee position the day before and Non-standing Member Kang submitting the withdrawal letter, the number of human rights commissioners who had put their names on the agenda proposal has decreased to three. If more than half of the proposers withdraw their proposals, the NHRCK agenda is discarded.
