Imsil County to Invest 1.5 Billion Won in Slate Removal and Roof Improvement Project
Applications accepted until the 28th of next month
Targeting 405 buildings
Imsil County in North Jeolla Province is allocating a large-scale budget for the removal of slate roofs and roof improvement projects.
According to the county on the 17th, this project, for which a total budget of approximately 1.5 billion KRW has been secured this year, was launched to protect residents' health from asbestos, a carcinogenic substance, and to improve the living environment.

The support targets are owners of slate buildings (residences, warehouses, livestock sheds) within the county, with priority given to vulnerable groups such as basic livelihood security recipients and low-income households. For general households, small-scale residences are prioritized.
The full cost of slate removal will be supported for priority households, while general households can receive up to 7 million KRW. For warehouses and livestock sheds under 200 square meters, the full cost of slate disposal will also be covered.
For residential roof improvements, priority households can receive up to 10 million KRW, and general households up to 5 million KRW. However, if the cost exceeds the maximum support amount, the owner must cover the excess.
Residents wishing to apply for support must visit the relevant township or town office where the building is located and fill out and submit an application form under the guidance of the responsible official by the 28th of next month.
County Governor Shim Min said, "Since slate, which is designated as hazardous waste, contains asbestos, a carcinogen, we are carrying out this project to prevent health damage to residents in advance and to create a pleasant rural living environment. We hope for the active interest and participation of our residents."
