Taean County Accepts Applications for 36 Fisheries Projects... "Securing Competitiveness in the Fishing Industry"
Applications Accepted Until February 14 for 14 Projects in 2025 and 22 Projects in 2026

View original imageTaean County, Chungnam Province, announced on the 16th that it will be accepting batch applications from local fishermen for fisheries projects to be implemented this year and next year, such as the modernization support project for inland fish farms and the establishment of mass production facilities for sea cucumbers, until February 14.
This initiative aims to secure competitiveness in the fishing industry and promote stable income growth for fishermen. A total of 36 projects are targeted, including 14 for 2025 and 22 for 2026.
This year's projects include: △ Establishment of mass production facilities for sea cucumbers △ Modernization support for inland fish farms △ Support for seafood processing facilities at production sites △ Emergency disaster countermeasure funds for mass clam deaths △ Support for seafood processing facilities at production sites △ Coastal fishing vessel reduction project △ Support for eco-friendly oyster facilities, among others.
In particular, five county-funded projects will be promoted, including: △ Sinjindo Port Squid & Seafood Festival △ Anmyeondo Baeksajang Shrimp Festival △ Support for Haenyeo suits and equipment △ Establishment of a fishing vessel accident prevention system △ Maintenance of small vessel hoists for disaster preparedness. In addition, three new projects, including the distribution of underwater cutting machines for fishing vessels, are being added, which is expected to increase fishermen's satisfaction.
The county plans to immediately review the eligibility of applicants after the application period ends, and to finalize the selection and prioritization of project participants for this year by February.
Meanwhile, the 2026 projects, for which applications are being accepted simultaneously, include 22 items such as: △ Support for cleaning aquaculture farms △ Eco-friendly energy supply project △ Support for aquaculture disaster insurance premiums △ Creation of shellfish farm resources △ Support for infrastructure of land-based fish farms. The county plans to request support from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries according to demand after applications are received.
Fishermen wishing to apply for the 2025 and 2026 projects should visit the Fisheries Division at the county office with the required documents, including an application form, business plan, and resume for subsidized projects, by February 14.
A county official said, "We will take the lead in strengthening fishermen's income by discovering various fisheries policies to enhance the competitiveness of Taean County, which boasts natural marine resources," adding, "We ask for fishermen's interest in this fisheries project application, and we will continue to strive to create vibrant fishing villages by improving the quality of life for fishermen."
