Osan City in Gyeonggi Province will provide over 680 million KRW to improve the treatment of care workers within the city.
On the 16th, Osan City announced that starting this year, it will implement this project to improve the treatment of care workers and enhance the quality of care services within the city. This policy focuses on reflecting the voices from the care field to improve workers' working conditions and increase the stability of care services.

The support funds are limited to workers enrolled in the four major social insurances and full-time workers (working 40 hours or more per week). Those with more than 3 years of service will receive 50,000 KRW per month, and those with less than 3 years of service will receive 30,000 KRW per month.
Earlier, in July 2023, the city enacted the "Care Workers Treatment Improvement and Support Ordinance," which provides the legal basis for supporting care workers. In June of last year, under the direction of Mayor Lee Gwon-jae, the city reviewed support for allowances for caregivers and other related personnel, leading to the implementation of this project.
Meanwhile, the city held a meeting yesterday at the Mulhyanggi Room of City Hall with heads of local nursing institutions and disability activity support organizations. The meeting focused on "Improving Care Workers' Treatment, System Improvement, Facility Operation Difficulties, and Development Plans." Discussions included solutions to the increasing demand for elderly care due to aging, operational difficulties of facilities, and ways to improve workers' treatment.
