Busan Gijang-gun to Fully Launch 'Senior Job Project' This Year
Public Interest, Capability Utilization, and Community Types
A Total of 40 Projects and 2,569 Participants
Busan Gijang-gun is promoting various senior job and social activity support projects this year to meet the increasing demand for jobs among the elderly and to actively utilize the experience and capabilities of local seniors.
The county has secured a project budget of approximately 12.1 billion KRW for 2025 and is actively carrying out senior job and social activity support projects. A total of 40 projects involving 2,569 senior jobs in public interest activities, capability utilization, and community types will be conducted in cooperation with Busan Gijang Senior Club, the Korea Senior Citizens Association Gijang Branch, and Jeonggwan Senior Welfare Center.
Separately, the county has secured a budget of about 434 million KRW entirely from county funds to expand its own project, the "Gijang-gun Senior Job Project." This is a core pledge project of the 8th local government administration, creating public interest activity-type jobs that provide seniors with opportunities to participate in social and economic activities through activities about 3 hours a day, 2 to 3 times a week.
Last year, 100 local seniors were selected to participate in this project. This year, the selection target will be expanded to 120 seniors. Jeonggwan Senior Welfare Center was selected as the project executor, and after the announcement and application process in December last year, participant selection was completed on the 6th of this month. After participant training on February 6, the project is planned to be fully deployed starting in February.
