Jeongeup City Supports 'Special Health Checkups for Female Farmers'
83 Million KRW Invested
Targeting Female Farmers Aged 51 to 70
Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province is providing special health checkups for female farmers.
According to the city on the 10th, this project was established to prevent diseases caused by farm work and to protect the health of female farmers.
Applications can be submitted at the local Eup, Myeon, or Dong Administrative Welfare Centers until the 22nd.
This year, the city plans to allocate 83 million KRW to provide health checkups for 420 female farmers.
Eligible participants are female farmers aged between 51 and 70 who reside in Jeongeup and are registered as agricultural business owners, and were born in odd-numbered years. The total cost of the checkup is 220,000 KRW, of which 22,000 KRW must be paid by the individual.
The checkup items include musculoskeletal disorders, cardiovascular diseases, risk of fractures and injuries, pulmonary function tests, and pesticide poisoning tests.
The checkup is expected to not only confirm general health status but also contribute to improving the quality of life for female farmers by preventing occupational diseases and providing medical counseling.
The city will finalize the list of eligible participants at the end of this month and conduct the checkups at Jeongeup Asan Hospital, designated by the Wonjin Occupational Disease Control Foundation, during the first half of the year.
Mayor Lee Haksoo said, "We have prepared this checkup so that female farmers can continue their agricultural work in good health," and added, "We will do our best to improve the quality of life and health welfare of female farmers."
