2025 Year Car Second Half Evaluation: 18 New Cars Passed
Final Selection Through Online and Real Vehicle Evaluation
The Korea Automobile Journalists Association announced on the 10th that, as a result of the second half evaluation of the 'Car of the Year' for 26 new cars from 17 brands released in the second half of last year, 18 cars from 14 brands advanced to the final evaluation.
By brand, Mercedes-Benz had the most with 3 cars. Audi and Hyundai each had 2 cars, while Kia, Land Rover, Lexus, Renault, Mini, BMW, Genesis, Jeep, Toyota, Porsche, and Polestar (brands listed in alphabetical order) each had 1 car.
The association selects the Car of the Year annually through preliminary and final evaluations for new cars released domestically. The evaluation is divided into a total of 8 categories including Domestic Car of the Year (Imported Car of the Year), SUV, Utility, Electric Vehicle (EV), Design, Performance, and Innovation. Each of the 58 media outlets affiliated with the association casts one vote to evaluate the vehicles.
If a vehicle is selected as the Car of the Month by the association's Car of the Year Selection Committee, it immediately advances to the final evaluation. The final evaluation consists of a first round online assessment and a second round real vehicle assessment. The real vehicle evaluation will be held on the 6th of next month at the Automotive Safety Research Institute in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province.
