Gongju City to Provide Up to 300,000 KRW in Jeonse Deposit Return Guarantee Fees
Secured a Budget of 40 Million Won to Support 133 People
On the 9th, Gongju City in Chungnam Province announced that it will provide up to 300,000 KRW in support for the jeonse deposit return guarantee fee for tenants without their own homes.
The jeonse deposit return guarantee is a financial product that ensures the return of the jeonse deposit from the landlord to the tenant at the end of the lease contract.
Eligible applicants are tenants without their own homes who have subscribed to the jeonse deposit return guarantee (HUG, HF, SGI), with a deposit of 300 million KRW or less. Annual income must be 50 million KRW or less for youth, 60 million KRW or less for non-youth, and 75 million KRW or less for newlyweds.
However, homeowners, foreigners and overseas Koreans not residing in Korea, tenants of registered rental business operators, and corporations are excluded.
Applicants can apply online through Government24, at local administrative welfare centers, or by visiting the Housing Management Team of the Permit and Architecture Division at Gongju City Hall.
The guarantee fee will be paid to the applicant's account after review. The city has secured a budget of 40 million KRW for this year and plans to support approximately 133 people.
Mayor Choi Wonchul said, "We are making great efforts to prevent the spread of rapidly increasing jeonse fraud damages," and added, "We will continue to work harder to improve residential stability and living conditions."
