The funerals for the victims, which began on the 30th of last month, concluded with the final two services held in Jeju on the 9th.
Authorities handed over the bodies of all 179 victims on the 6th, and funerals were held across the country, including in Gwangju, Jeonnam, Seoul, and Gyeonggi.
After the national mourning period was declared until the 4th, approximately 200,000 citizens visited joint memorial altars set up in 105 locations nationwide, including Muan Airport and city, provincial, county, and district offices, to pay tribute to the victims.
Although all funerals have been completed, the government's on-site integrated support center will continue its operations at Muan International Airport.
In preparation for the bereaved families' possible return, disinfection is being carried out in the shelter area and cold weather kits have been provided.
The process of identifying and returning personal belongings or any additional remains to the families is also ongoing.
No additional remains have been confirmed so far. The authorities plan to inform the families about the joint cremation process for any unclaimed remains and confirm their wishes before proceeding.
