Yeongju City Holds Call for This Year's Seonbi Bulletin Board Phrases

Seonbi Spirit and Fresh Phrases, Announced in March

Yeongju City (Mayor Park Nam-seo) announced on the 9th that it will hold the "2025 Seonbi Billboard Text Contest," open to all citizens of the Republic of Korea, to promote the spirit of Seonbi and the charm of Yeongju.

The contest will be held from the 13th of this month until February 21st, and only entries received by the deadline will be accepted.

The contest theme is to create an original, pure phrase within 25 characters that embodies the spirit of Seonbi in Yeongju and resonates emotionally with all generations. Each participant may submit only one entry. Applicants must fill out the application form and submit it via email or postal mail.

Submitted works will be reviewed by the Text Selection Committee, and one grand prize winner and two excellence award winners will be selected. The grand prize winner will receive a 500,000 KRW Onnuri gift certificate, and each excellence award winner will receive a 300,000 KRW Onnuri gift certificate.

The winning entries will be announced in March, and the grand prize-winning text will be designed appropriately and displayed on banners at the Yeongju City Hall parking tower and the exterior wall of Yeongju City Library from March through December.

The "Seonbi Billboard" has been operated since 2018 to share the spirit of Seonbi through phrases created by citizens and to deliver warm comfort and messages of hope amid busy daily life. So far, a total of 32 works have been selected, and the winning entries have been utilized in civic education, various events, and on the Yeongju City website.

Kim Ho-jung, head of the Seonbi Talent Development Division, said, "Last year, a total of 213 people participated in the Seonbi Billboard contest, and the grand prize-winning phrase was 'The spring of my life is meeting Yeongju, resembling Seonbi!' This year's contest is another opportunity to widely promote the spirit of Seonbi and regional identity through creative phrases from citizens who love Yeongju. We ask for your great interest and participation."
