Suwon City Provides 100,000 KRW Heating Subsidy to Basic and Lower-Middle Income Vulnerable Groups
The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province will provide heating cost support of 100,000 KRW per household (50% funded by the province) to 22,600 households of basic livelihood security recipients and near-poverty groups struggling due to the cold wave.
On the 9th, Suwon City announced that, following Gyeonggi Province’s decision to provide 50,000 KRW per household to vulnerable groups, it has decided to add an additional 50,000 KRW to support a total of 100,000 KRW per household.
The support targets 22,600 households registered as of January 3, 2025, in Suwon City, including basic livelihood security recipients (living, medical, housing, education) and near-poverty groups (single-parent families, near-poverty reduced burden, near-poverty disabled, near-poverty self-support, near-poverty verification). Those eligible for Gyeonggi Province’s senior winter heating cost and disabled heating cost support programs are excluded.
Applications can be submitted by visiting the local administrative welfare center of the applicant’s jurisdiction with an ID and a copy of the bankbook or by phone until the 23rd of this month.
The heating cost support will be paid in cash directly to the recipients’ accounts. Those who miss the initial payment can receive additional payments in February.
