Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) will begin issuing the "2025 Seongbuk-gu Children and Youth Companion Card" starting from the 13th. The issuance target is 13-year-old youths or first-year middle school students registered as residents in Seongbuk-gu, and applications can be made by visiting the local community service center of their residential district.
First implemented nationwide in 2017, the Companion Card is a policy that supports children and youth's cultural activities and career experience activities by providing 100,000 won worth of points. The Companion Card can be used at affiliated stores such as cultural experience venues, career experience centers, bookstores and stationery shops, cinemas, sports activities, and art galleries and museums. As of January this year, there are 157 affiliated Companion Card stores within the district.
The application period for the Companion Card is from the 13th of this month to November 30th, and applicants must be registered residents of Seongbuk-gu as of the application date. Applications and submissions can be made at the local community service center of the applicant’s residential district, and the received card can be used after the user registers it directly on the Companion Card website. The card usage period is until December 15th. After the deadline, the card cannot be used and the points will expire.
The district is continuously recruiting and discovering various affiliated stores that align with the purpose of the Companion Card project and the interests of youths. To facilitate applicants’ convenience, plans are underway to prepare online application and submission methods. Detailed information about the Companion Card project and usage locations can be found on the Seongbuk-gu Companion Card website.
