"No President Has Done This Well" Appeals for Support
"All Marine Corps Veterans Should Step Up"... Facing Fierce Criticism
Kim Heung-guk, a representative conservative entertainer, claimed that "politicians have divided the Marine Corps into two." Known as a member of the Marine Corps class 401, Kim stated this in a comment on his YouTube channel on the 7th, saying, "It is truly regrettable. The Marine Corps is one." This was in response to criticism from netizens regarding his appeal for support of President Yoon Seok-yeol by mentioning his own Marine Corps background.

He opened by saying, "I am attacked every day on YouTube. They call 'Horangnabi' (Tiger Butterfly) 'Gyeomnabi' (Martial Law Butterfly), and some even call it 'Naerannabi' (Rebellion Butterfly), making it unbearable." He then said, "I am a Marine Corps veteran," adding, "I was taught that when the country is in trouble and the people are struggling, the Marines are the first to stand up and protect the nation," emphasizing, "All Marine Corps veterans nationwide and worldwide, head to Hannam-dong."
He also expressed strong support for President Yoon, saying, "In the past two and a half years, where is a president who has done as well as this person? We must block it. We must overcome it. You will surely win. Heaven will help us." Kim also served as a member of President Yoon’s celebrity campaign team during the last presidential election.
Since then, his YouTube channel has been flooded with criticism from netizens. When one netizen said, "The shame of the Marine Corps! The shame of the Korean entertainment industry! The shame of the Korean people! It is Kim Heung-guk," Kim responded, "Who do you think you are?" Additionally, when a netizen who identified as Marine Corps class 737 said, "I hope you live without embarrassing the Marines. Please don’t even talk about the Marines," Kim replied, "You should live quietly."
Earlier, Kim remained silent about the death of Corporal Chae in the Marine Corps and opposed the push for a "Special Prosecutor Law for Corporal Chae," which sparked controversy. In June of last year, he attended a conservative group rally and criticized the special prosecutor law, saying, "Marine Corps seniors and juniors are working hard for the country and the people, so how long will this be dragged out like this?"

Although he served as the vice president of the Marine Corps Veterans Association at the time, he eventually resigned from the position amid ongoing controversy.
