40s Man Who Hit 4 Police Cars While Fleeing Hit-and-Run Arrested and Sent to Prosecution
A man in his 40s who caused a hit-and-run accident in Nowon-gu, Seoul, fled after hitting four police cars and escaped to Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, was handed over to the prosecution.
On the 7th, the Nowon Police Station in Seoul announced that they had arrested and sent Mr. A to the prosecution on charges including violation of the Road Traffic Act (failure to take action after an accident), injury caused by obstruction of official duties, and violation of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes (hit-and-run causing injury).
Mr. A is accused of hitting another car around 5:10 a.m. on the 2nd in Sanggye-dong, Nowon-gu, and then fleeing the scene. While fleeing, he is alleged to have collided with four police cars that had responded to the report. In the process, four police officers in the vehicles sustained minor injuries such as bruises. Mr. A was caught by the police around 5:50 a.m. after fleeing to Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province. It was confirmed that Mr. A was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

A police official said, "During the investigation, Mr. A did not answer questions about his motives for the accident or fleeing," adding, "There is suspicion of a history of mental illness, but we cannot confirm the details specifically."
