Facing the crisis of a population cliff, Gimcheon City in Gyeongbuk is devising various solutions to directly tackle the phenomena of local extinction and population decline.
On the 6th, Gimcheon City announced that it conducted promotional activities by distributing informational brochures on population increase policies, such as relocation support funds and dormitory fee subsidies, to new students and their parents in line with the entrance briefing held at the Sesim Hall of Gimcheon High School.

The city offers many benefits to students transferring from other regions to local middle and high schools, including ▲relocation support fund of 200,000 KRW ▲dormitory fee subsidy of 300,000 KRW per semester ▲uniform support fund of 300,000 KRW.
On this day, various relocation benefits such as dormitory fee subsidies were explained to parents and new students, along with information about the operation of the 'On-site Visiting Relocation Team' for new students in line with the entrance ceremony on March 1.
An official from the Planning and Budget Office of Gimcheon City stated, “Currently, most local small and medium-sized cities are facing a serious situation of a population cliff due to population concentration in the metropolitan area, low birth rates, and aging. Going forward, our city will strive to discover various policies that can increase not only the resident population but also the living population, revitalizing the region and overcoming the crisis of local extinction.”
