On the morning of the 6th, Governor Oh Younghun emphasized the reflection of the Great Transformation framework throughout provincial administration and the creation of tangible results during the monthly policy meeting held at Tamna Hall in the provincial government office.
Governor Oh stressed, "After declaring an energy, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital Great Transformation that changes the paradigm of all sectors in Jeju during the first half of the 8th popularly elected administration, it is now time to incorporate the perspective of Great Transformation into each field and expand concrete achievements." He specifically instructed the Planning and Coordination Office to systematically reflect Great Transformation policies in all provincial systems, including budget allocation, organizational management, and tax policies.
Governor Oh also emphasized that the establishment of the top-level legal plan, 'Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Basic Strategy for Sustainable Development (2040)', should serve as the benchmark for new year business plans. In this process, he requested that core projects by department, such as energy, artificial intelligence (AI), digital Great Transformation policies, food tech promotion strategies, and remote collaborative medical services, be additionally reflected in the basic strategy.
Governor Oh stated, "If the decline in tourist numbers continues due to the current political situation and economic downturn, there are concerns of a significant blow to the local economy," and emphasized, "It is urgent to prepare measures to attract tourists and stimulate domestic demand."
He called for an all-out effort to attract domestic tourists through academic and group events, and added, "As we also need to establish our own domestic demand stimulus policies within the province, we must consider a mutually supportive, win-win domestic demand activation system where residents help each other in response to the decrease in tourists."
For the first time since the launch of the 8th popularly elected administration, Kim Wankun, Mayor of Jeju City, and Oh Sunmun, Mayor of Seogwipo City, attended the meeting.
Governor Oh said, "The province and administrative cities are organizations representing a single legal entity," and requested stronger linkage and close cooperation between the provincial administration and administrative cities.
Meanwhile, the meeting also shared updates on the designation of a distributed energy special zone, improvement of the regional safety index rating, implementation of the carbon emissions trading system, and the 2025 housing welfare project.
