Early Year 60 Billion KRW Pohang Sarang Gift Certificate 10% Discount Sale, Boosting Local Economy
Pohang City announced that 35 billion KRW of the Pohang Sarang Card (card type and mobile Pohang Sarang gift certificate), which started its first 10% discount sale this year, was sold out in just four days.
The discounted sale of the Pohang Sarang Card, issued on the 2nd, was completely sold out by the 5th with 35 billion KRW. The city plans to start a 10% discount sale of 15 billion KRW worth of paper-type Pohang Sarang gift certificates on the 14th.
The personal purchase limit for Pohang Sarang gift certificates in January is 700,000 KRW, combining the limits of the Pohang Sarang Card and the paper-type Pohang Sarang gift certificates, with a maximum purchase limit of 300,000 KRW for the paper-type certificates.
The paper-type Pohang Sarang gift certificates will be available for purchase from the 14th during banking hours at 165 sales agency financial institutions. In rural areas, only local residents can purchase them, and citizens from the same region cannot buy more than their local quota.
The sales agency financial institutions for Pohang Sarang gift certificates include IM Bank, NongHyup, Saemaeul Geumgo, and ShinHyup, and can be checked on the Pohang City Hall website or the mobile app (iM Shop).
The city expects that the rapid sell-out of the Pohang Sarang Card, issued for the first time this year, and the upcoming discounted sale of the paper-type Pohang Sarang gift certificates on the 14th will create a virtuous cycle of funds circulating in the local economy, serving as a consumption catalyst for the struggling local markets.
Mayor Lee Kang-deok said, “Since the livelihood economy is difficult, we are striving to further expand the issuance scale of Pohang Sarang gift certificates, originally planned at 200 billion KRW this year,” and added, “We will do our utmost to support policies for citizens and small business owners to revitalize the difficult livelihood economy.”
