Gwangju City Conducts Comprehensive Inspection of Seasonal Food Products Ahead of Lunar New Year Holiday Until the 13th
Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Bang Se-hwan) announced on the 6th that it will conduct a comprehensive inspection of food manufacturing, distribution, sales, and hospitality businesses until the 13th.
This inspection is organized to strengthen safety management of ritual and gift foods such as processed foods and health functional foods, which citizens purchase frequently ahead of the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday.
The main inspection items include ▲whether expired or prohibited raw materials are used in foods ▲appropriateness of preservation and distribution standards for raw materials and finished products ▲compliance with business operators' obligations and other food hygiene laws ▲requirements for raw materials and labeling standards for eggs used in food service establishments, among others.
Gwangju City plans to collect some distributed and sold products as well as prepared foods during the Lunar New Year peak season to request testing for conformity with food standards and specifications.
