On the 5th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that, as a heavy snow warning was issued mainly for the Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon Province, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) activated Level 1 from 8 a.m. and raised the heavy snow crisis alert from 'Interest' to 'Caution.'

View original imageAccording to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the snowfall is expected to continue until the 6th, with predicted snow accumulation of 3 to 10 cm in Gyeonggi and Gangwon regions, 3 to 8 cm in Seoul, and 1 to 5 cm in Incheon.
Go Gidong, head of the CDSCH, instructed related agencies to mobilize all snow removal personnel and equipment and implement measures to minimize traffic congestion in order to reduce heavy snow damage. He also emphasized strengthening surveillance of snow-vulnerable facilities such as vinyl greenhouses, livestock sheds, and aging buildings, and, in case of collapse concerns, to cooperate with fire and police agencies to promptly carry out evacuation and access control.
