Geumcheon-gu Disaster Safety Situation Room Establishes '24-Hour Response System'
Establishment of Operating Regulations, Hiring of One Additional Dedicated Staff to Strengthen Disaster Safety Situation Room
Year-Round 24/7 Operation for Seamless Disaster Management
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it has strengthened the functions of the Disaster Safety Situation Room to establish a 24-hour rapid and systematic disaster response system.
The Geumcheon-gu Disaster Safety Situation Room operates 24/7 year-round, with dedicated personnel assigned in shifts for daytime and nighttime to respond quickly in the event of a disaster.
The district has enhanced the management system by hiring one additional fixed-term public official to the previously three-person team operating the situation room.
The dedicated staff assess the situation during disasters, dispatch on-duty personnel to the site, and exchange real-time information through the Disaster Safety Communication Network (PS-LTE). Based on this, they take prompt actions such as disseminating information to related agencies, reporting initial situations internally and to higher authorities, and sending emergency disaster messages.
Additionally, the district has established the "Disaster Safety Situation Room Operation Regulations" to improve the efficiency of the situation room’s operations. The regulations include strengthening accountability of the situation room, duty methods for personnel, and multi-angle response plans for emergencies. Major disaster situations are managed through daily regular reports and ad-hoc reports during emergencies, delivered via various methods such as phone calls and text messages.
Cooperation systems with related agencies have also been strengthened. In collaboration with Geumcheon Fire Station, police stations, and other related organizations, the situation is shared in real-time through the Disaster Safety Communication Network (PS-LTE) to enable rapid initial response.
Furthermore, a system is in place to share situations and discuss countermeasures using the National Disaster Management System (NDMS) and video systems when disasters occur.
Moreover, the district is focusing its capabilities on disaster prevention and response by organizing personnel for phased situation management, expanding disaster response training, and conducting security checks on disaster safety systems.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, “By strengthening the functions of the Disaster Safety Situation Room, rapid and systematic responses to disasters have become possible. We will continue to prioritize the lives and safety of our residents, maintain a flawless disaster management system, and further enhance our disaster response capabilities.”
