Fishing Boat Sinks Near Gageodo, Sinan... 20 Rescued, 1 in Cardiac Arrest (Comprehensive)

At around 10:30 a.m. on the 4th, a report was received by the Coast Guard situation room and other authorities that a fishing boat had collided with a rock near the waters off Gageodo, Heuksan-myeon, Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do.
The 9.77-ton fishing boat involved in the accident was carrying a total of 22 people, including anglers and the captain.
So far, the Coast Guard has rescued 20 out of the 22 people on board, and the remaining 2 are still being rescued. Among those rescued, one person was transported in a state of cardiac arrest.
The Coast Guard plans to investigate the exact cause of the accident as soon as the rescue operation is completed.
