Professor Kang Dong-jin of Yeungnam University Department of Mechanical Engineering Receives Minister of Education Award... "For Contributions to Enhancing Engineering Education Quality"
Professor Kang Dong-jin (Dean Choi Oe-chul) of Yeungnam University, head of the Center for Engineering Education Innovation and professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, announced on the 3rd that he received the Minister of Education Award. This recognition was given for his significant contributions as the head of Yeungnam University's Center for Engineering Education Innovation, enhancing the qualitative level of engineering education through accreditation and innovation activities, and promoting the spread of an internationally recognized engineering education system.
Professor Kang researched the issuance system and implementation plan for competency digital badges, which will be applied from 2024 to the bootcamp workforce training project of the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT), issuing digital badges in the semiconductor field, thereby greatly contributing to the introduction and expansion of a competency-based engineering education performance system.

Additionally, Professor Kang played a major role in establishing Korea's engineering education accreditation system by serving as the evaluation team leader at 15 universities nationwide over 15 years, starting with Korea Aerospace University in 2010 and most recently Sungkyunkwan University in 2024.
