Incheon City Hall Area 1㎢ 'Smart Design Special Zone' Development Begins
A 'Smart Design Special Zone' will be established in an approximately 1㎢ area around the City Hall in Guwol-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon.
Incheon City announced on the 2nd that it has recently started the basic and detailed design service for the Smart Design Special Zone. This project aims to enhance the convenience and safety of residents in the old downtown area by integrating smart technology and public design.
The special zone will consist of a hospital safety zone (H-ZONE), safe school routes, and a smart pedestrian safety distance system including guidance systems. Additionally, a communication plaza and park equipped with public rest areas, media walls, solar benches, and shade structures will be created.
The city plans to complete the basic and detailed design by April, with a total project cost of 3.37 billion KRW including 70% of national funding, and finish equipment installation and management system construction by September.
The special zone area is densely populated with major public facilities such as Seokcheon Elementary School, Guwol Middle School, Incheon City Hall, Aetteul Square, as well as Jungang Park, hospitals, commercial areas, and offices, making it an optimal location to reflect diverse citizen needs, the city explained.
