Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baedal Minjok, announced on the 2nd that it held an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders and a board meeting to newly appoint Kim Beom-seok as CEO.
Kim Beom-seok, who majored in International Relations and Economics at George Washington University in the United States, has established and managed several startups and platform companies, including founding Uber's Turkey branch and food delivery apps Glovo and Trendyol Go.
The Woowa Brothers board of directors explained the reason for the appointment, saying, "CEO Kim is a business leader with experience in establishing platform businesses such as Uber and Glovo in new markets and actively communicating with market participants to drive rapid growth. We judged him to be the right person to lead new growth and sustainability based on his global experience and expertise."
CEO Kim said, "I will prioritize improving customer experience above all else to continuously develop Baemin's services and take on new growth businesses. Baemin's role is to foster the common interests of consumer convenience and the growth of platform partners."
From today, CEO Kim will serve as the CEO of Woowa Brothers. With new leadership, Woowa Brothers plans to accelerate the expansion of new growth engines and secure sustainable growth. Based on the competitiveness of 'quickly delivering various products to consumers' doorsteps at reasonable costs,' the company aims to create differentiated value, make customers' lives more convenient, and contribute to the growth of the local commerce market.
First, the company will accelerate innovation in quick commerce based on the competitiveness accumulated so far. It will expand the number of partner stores for grocery shopping and shopping services operated in collaboration with major distribution companies such as large marts, convenience stores, corporate supermarkets, major consumer goods brands, and small business owners. Additionally, it will enhance the delivery quality of quick commerce, including B Mart and grocery shopping services, based on artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
In its core food delivery business, the company plans to upgrade technology and services to enable partner stores to receive more orders by reflecting trends such as new food cultures. Furthermore, it will expand the Baemin Order business, which allows ordering through Baemin not only for food delivery and takeout but also in restaurant halls, providing users with an experience to enjoy food through Baemin anywhere and further enhancing customer value.
