Starmer, UK Prime Minister: "Rebuilding the Nation Like After World War II"
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer reaffirmed the nation's determination to rebuild as the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II approaches in 2025.
In a video New Year's address on the night of the 31st of last month (local time), Prime Minister Starmer said, "This year, we will focus on a year of reconstruction," adding, "It is about rediscovering ourselves as a great nation that gets things done no matter how difficult the situation." He reminded that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, stating, "That victory and the ensuing peace and prosperity were built on the very foundation we must rebuild today."
The slogans "National Reset" and "Change" have been the rallying cries of the Labour government, which succeeded in the general election this July, marking the first change of government in 14 years. However, the Labour government has been embroiled in policy controversies, including tax increases, since its inception, and economic indicators remain sluggish.
