[Full Text] New Year's Address by Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province
Dear 14.1 million residents of Gyeonggi-do, the New Year has dawned.
First, we pray for the souls of those who lost their lives in the unexpected airline accident.
We extend our deepest condolences and sympathy to the bereaved families enduring great sorrow.
Gyeonggi-do will stand together until the tragedy is resolved and the pain is healed.
In 2024, Gyeonggi-do has continuously moved forward toward a "world where people live."
We have not lost direction or speed with the principle of "people-centeredness."
In the New Year, Gyeonggi-do will firmly maintain its center.
Breathing new life into the lives of residents and our economy,
discovering future sources of growth and investing in people,
turning today's climate crisis into tomorrow's growth opportunity,
and developing Northern Gyeonggi as a game changer in the Korean economy.
Gyeonggi-do will continue all these bold challenges without interruption.
We will rebuild the Korean economy shaken by illegal martial law
and turn it once again into an opportunity for leap forward.
This year marks the meaningful 80th anniversary of Liberation.
We will heal conflicts and divisions with the power of unity.
We believe in the strength of 14.1 million Gyeonggi-do residents and our people.
We believe in the history of Korea that created hope even in crisis.
In 2025, we will hold each other's hands and overcome difficulties.
Gyeonggi-do will take the lead. Happy New Year.
