View original imageOn the 31st, Kang Su-hyun, Mayor of Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province, stated in his New Year's address, "With the spirit of Jeguposin (除舊布新), which means removing the old and spreading the new, we will establish sound fiscal management and concentrate budget investments in essential business sectors to move step by step toward the future."
Mayor Kang explained, "For small business owners, we will implement projects to improve store environments and support special guarantees for small business owners. For companies, we will expand the priority purchase system for local products, increase interest support and special guarantee support for small and medium enterprises, and expand projects to improve working conditions for SME employees."
He added, "We will build a startup growth support center to lead future new industries and encourage early groundbreaking of resident companies to invigorate the local construction market."
Mayor Kang also stated, “We will steadily develop the Gyeonggi Yangju Technovalley and Eunnam General Industrial Complex, strategically attract high-quality companies such as 'Aseong Daiso,' and devote our utmost efforts to securing driving forces for Yangju’s future development and job creation.”
He also promised to make Yangju a faster and more convenient future transportation hub city.
Mayor Kang emphasized, "We will expedite the construction of the Okjeong-Pocheon metropolitan railway project and the GTX-C line project. We will create transfer parking lots at Yangju Station and Deokjeong Station and actively promote the increase of Line 1 subway trains and the introduction of shuttle trains."
He said, “We will aim to complete this year the road widening and expansion project for Provincial Route 30 (Bangseong-Sanbuk section), which will drive balanced development in the western region, and the construction project of Local Route 39 (Ganap-Sangsu road). We will also do our best to ensure timely progress of the National Route 3 Pyeonghwa Road (Yangju City Hall-Deokjeong Intersection) expansion project, the remaining sections of Local Route 39 (Jangheung-Nammyeon), and the bypass road construction project of Local Route 360 (Yeongok-Bangseong) through close consultation with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Gyeonggi Province, and LH."
Mayor Kang also said, "We will make Yangju a dream education city that everyone wants to enjoy."
To this end, Mayor Kang explained, “We will establish urban and rural care base centers and build a Yangju-type integrated care system for preschoolers. We will strongly promote the separate establishment of the Yangju Office of Education to improve the poor educational environment in northern Gyeonggi and strive to support education with Yangju’s unique characteristics.”
He also pledged to make Yangju a cultural city where history and nature live.
Mayor Kang said, “We will prepare plans to link and utilize Yangju’s unique tangible and intangible national heritage such as Yangju Hyanggyo and Yangju Byeolsandae Nori. We will develop various experiential content such as reenactment of Yangju-mok history, lodging experience at Naea, and integrated program operation through cooperation with related organizations to make the Yangjugwanaji area the center of historical culture. We will further develop its identity as a cultural and tourism city with 630 years of living history and the dignity of the northern Gyeonggi ancestral home.”
He emphasized, “In line with the reopening of the Gyoeui Line, which was cut off for 20 years, we will work to revitalize the Jangheung area through the restoration project of Ilyeong Station, development of the Gyoeui Line tourism brand, and development of a metropolitan city tour product connecting three cities.”
He also pledged to create a happy daily life in Yangju without exclusion.
Mayor Kang said, “We will promote the construction of a comprehensive child support center so that children can grow up safely and comfortably, complete the Yangju-type 365 village care system, and work to build a seamless public childcare infrastructure. We will modernize 278 senior citizen centers in the city and provide detailed welfare services such as childbirth congratulatory money, childcare allowances, parental benefits, child allowances, and postpartum care support to warmly assist citizens in need.”
Furthermore, he said he would secure urban growth momentum for a future population of 500,000 by 2035.
Mayor Kang said, "We will focus administrative capabilities to ensure the smooth progress of the construction of the Northeast Gyeonggi innovative public medical center, which will greatly contribute to improving medical services in Yangju. We will also work to alleviate citizens’ inconveniences through the construction of a joint-type comprehensive funeral facility in Yangju and promote urban regeneration projects that reflect local characteristics in Deokjeong-dong, Sanbuk-dong, and Nammyeon areas."
Finally, Mayor Kang said, "We will create a vibrant Yangju through communication and participation. To realize administration that citizens want, we will operate the resident participation budget system effectively and hold briefing sessions for various major projects to reflect citizens’ opinions in city administration as much as possible."
