Pocheon-si Holds Final Report Meeting on Survey of Pet-Friendly Travel Practices
On the 27th, Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province held the "Final Report Meeting on the Survey and Promotion Plan for Pet-Friendly Travel in Pocheon City" at the city hall's administrative meeting room, the city announced on the 30th.

View original imageThis project was conducted as part of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's "Pet-Friendly Tourism City Creation Project" public contest, aiming to survey the current status of pet-friendly travel in Pocheon City, establish detailed business plans for a pet-friendly tourism city, and develop mid- to long-term strategies.
The final report meeting was attended by Kim Jong-hoon, Deputy Mayor of Pocheon City, Kim Hyun-gyu, a member of the Pocheon City Council, representatives from the Korea Tourism Organization, Pocheon Culture and Tourism Foundation, and stakeholders from the local pet-related industry.
Plan Issue (CEO Kim Jin-sung), which conducted the research, announced that according to a survey of 400 tourists traveling with pets, 84% of respondents said it was their first visit to Pocheon City. Additionally, the most common length of stay was one night and two days at 49.5%, and 91.6% expressed their intention to revisit. The survey also revealed the need to improve pet accommodation facilities within tourist attractions.
Along with this, twelve core projects were identified to establish Pocheon as a leading pet-friendly tourism city in South Korea. These include twelve key projects such as the "New Concept Pet Festival" and ten mid- to long-term projects including the "Development of Pocheon Daengdaengi Road."

Deputy Mayor Kim Jong-hoon stated, "2025 will be the second year of the Pet-Friendly Tourism City Creation Project. Based on the results of this study, we plan to promote various projects to develop the city into one that satisfies both pet owners and non-pet owners."
