"I Hit a Person..." 60-Year-Old Turns Himself In for Hit-and-Run Fatality in Gimhae
A man in his 60s who caused a fatal accident while driving early in the morning and fled the scene surrendered to the police 40 minutes after the accident.
The Gimhae Jungbu Police Station in Gyeongnam announced on the 27th that they have booked a man in his 60s, Mr. A, without detention on charges of a hit-and-run fatal accident.
According to the police, Mr. A was driving a 25-ton dump truck around 3:47 a.m. on a two-lane one-way road in Samgye-dong, Gimhae City, when he hit Mr. B, a man in his 70s who was walking on the opposite lane, causing his death at the scene.
Immediately after the accident, Mr. A went to his company located 10 minutes away, and upon seeing the front part of his vehicle damaged, he surrendered to the police around 4:27 a.m., saying, "I think I hit a person with my car."
It is known that he was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
