Yeoncheon-gun Selected as an Excellent Local Government in the Local Regulation Innovation Evaluation Hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety
Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 27th that it was selected as an excellent local government in the ‘2024 Local Regulation Innovation Performance Evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety evaluated 243 metropolitan and basic local governments nationwide by dividing them into four groups, considering fairness among local governments. They assessed regulatory innovation achievements such as improvements in bulk (central) regulations, shadow and behavioral regulations, efforts to improve regulations closely related to businesses and residents, and outstanding cases of regulatory improvement, selecting 60 excellent local governments.
The local regulation innovation performance evaluation comprehensively assesses achievements such as discovering and improving regulations stipulated by law and promoting the resolution of regulations in ordinances and rules. Yeoncheon-gun achieved the Encouragement Award in the county group and will receive a special grant of 100 million KRW.
This year, Yeoncheon-gun has made efforts to improve central regulations and shadow and behavioral regulations by public officials for local regulation innovation. In particular, starting this year, it promoted demand- and field-centered regulation discovery through the newly operated ‘Visiting Regulatory Reform Reporting Center.’

A Yeoncheon-gun official said, “Local regulation innovation directly revitalizes the regional economy and improves residents’ quality of life,” adding, “We will continue to actively promote regulatory innovation that practically helps residents’ lives and business activities by directly visiting the field to continuously discover and improve various regulations that act as obstacles.”
