Held 'Nangok Line Light Rail Resident Briefing Session' with Seoul City Officials on the 26th
Explained Preliminary Feasibility Study Progress and Collected Resident Opinions on Route Adjustments to Improve Project Viability
Committed to Realizing Transportation Welfare and Regional Development in Transportation-Vulnerable Areas: Nanghyang-dong, Nangok-dong, Miseong-dong

Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) held a residents' briefing session on the 26th to ensure the smooth progress of the long-awaited local project, the 'Nangok Line Light Rail Construction Project.'

The 'Nangok Line' is an underground light rail line with a total length of 4.08 km, connecting Boramae Park Station (Sillim Line) to Nanhyang Elementary School. A total of five stations are planned, including two transfer stations.

In particular, this line passes through the transportation-vulnerable areas within Gwanak-gu, including ▲ Nanhyang-dong ▲ Nangok-dong ▲ Miseong-dong, aiming to improve transportation infrastructure and promote regional development, making it a highly anticipated project in the Nangok area.

Accordingly, the district and Seoul City actively submitted proposals regarding development plans to related agencies such as ▲ the Ministry of Economy and Finance ▲ KDI Public Investment Management Center to enhance the economic feasibility of the 'Nangok Line.' They also delivered videos of bus traffic in the Nangok area and an interview with the mayor, reflecting the residents' hopes.

However, according to the current preliminary feasibility study evaluation criteria, the business feasibility (B/C) of the Nangok Line is low, posing difficulties in project promotion.

This is because the business feasibility evaluation method focuses on economic efficiency and does not reflect the positive effects expected when the Nangok Line opens, such as alleviating transportation inconveniences in a region lacking railway transportation and promoting balanced national development in the southwestern area.

Therefore, the district has been working jointly with Seoul City until recently to pass the preliminary feasibility study for the Nangok Line, including proposing improvement measures to the Ministry of Economy and Finance regarding the problems of the current preliminary feasibility study system.

The residents' briefing session was held to explain the progress of the 'Nangok Line Light Rail Project' preliminary feasibility study to residents and to gather their opinions.

On this day, the district, together with Seoul City officials, provided a detailed explanation of the preliminary feasibility study progress, expressed their determination to prepare the optimal alternative, and to promote the Nangok Line smoothly.

Residents attending the briefing suggested various alternatives, such as route adjustments, as measures to secure economic feasibility for passing the preliminary feasibility study, forming a consensus on many points.

The district plans to firmly establish the necessity of constructing the Nangok Line light rail for future regional development and alleviation of transportation inconveniences, actively seek ways to improve economic feasibility, and promote the project vigorously in cooperation with Seoul City.

Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, said, "We will devote all efforts to securing transportation infrastructure, reflecting the hopes of the residents of the Nangok area," and added, "We will cooperate more closely with Seoul City and related agencies to ensure the smooth progress of the Nangok Line Light Rail Project."
