Delivery of the First Domestically Developed Light Armed Helicopter to the Army
KAI to Replace 500MD and AH-1S Attack Helicopters
Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) has delivered the first Light Armed Helicopter (LAH) to the Army. The LAH is a domestically developed helicopter designed to replace the 500MD and AH-1S attack helicopters currently operated by the Army.
According to the Defense Acquisition Program Administration on the 26th, the first mass-produced LAH unit named ‘Miron’ completed its acceptance test flight and was delivered to the Army. ‘Miron’ is a pure Korean word meaning ‘dragon’ (Mir) and the number 100. The Army conducted the acceptance test flight on the 5th of last month to receive the first unit. The acceptance test flight is a process where the user directly verifies whether the completed aircraft meets the targeted performance and quality standards.
