Busan Office of Education Launches AI and Digital Innovation in Secondary Classes and Assessments
Final Report Meeting on Model Development Research Service on the 19th
Creating an Innovative Culture for Classes and Assessments, Strengthening Public Education Competitiveness
On the 19th at 3:30 PM, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will hold the "Final Results Presentation of the Research Project on the Development of AI and Digital-Based Teaching, Learning, and Assessment System Models for Secondary Education" at the International Conference Room of the Office's annex, targeting over 60 participants including secondary school teachers, education professionals, and research team members.
In August, the Busan Office of Education initiated a research project aimed at establishing directions for innovation in digital-based instruction and assessment, as well as developing models that consider the characteristics of each subject, in line with the "Digital Transformation," the "2022 Revised Curriculum Implementation," and the "Introduction of Digital Textbooks."
The project was conducted by a field research team composed of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Pusan National University, Pusan National University faculty, and middle and high school teachers. They developed AI and digital-based teaching, learning, and assessment system models and instructional materials for five subjects in middle and high schools: Korean, English, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science.
The presentation session will open with an overview of the research results by Professor Lee Sang-su, the principal investigator of the project, followed by subject-specific research findings. Then, Professor Shin Dong-jo from the Department of Mathematics Education will explain cases applying the AI and digital innovation model specialized for the mathematics subject in teaching and assessment.
There will also be a Q&A and feedback session to explore the applicability of the research results in school settings.
The Office of Education plans to hold a performance report meeting online (via ZOOM) on the 26th to disseminate the research results and enhance teachers' capabilities in innovating instruction and assessment.
Lecture videos by subject and teaching and assessment materials related to the developed models will be uploaded to the "Busan School Support Service (BSSS)" for practical use in the field.
Through this model development, which presents the future direction of AI and digital-based instruction and assessment, the Busan Office of Education expects to foster a culture of innovation in teaching and assessment and strengthen the competitiveness of public education.
