Mapo-gu Builds Smart Security Infrastructure with Intelligent CCTV Installation in Parks and Hiking Trails
269 Intelligent CCTVs Installed at 71 Locations Including Parks to Eliminate Safety Blind Spots
Integrated Control Center Operating 24/7 Linked with Emergency Bells for Rapid Response in Urgent Situations
Mapo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Gang-su) has newly installed 269 intelligent closed-circuit televisions (CCTV) at 71 locations including parks and hiking trails to prevent abnormal crimes and eliminate blind spots in public safety, thereby establishing a smart security infrastructure.
This project was promoted to strengthen the surveillance system in crime-vulnerable areas and provide a safe and pleasant environment where residents can use parks and hiking trails with peace of mind.
The district selected installation sites through on-site surveys targeting entrances and exits, forks, and accident-prone areas of parks and hiking trails where closed-circuit (CC) TVs had been insufficient.
The newly installed intelligent closed-circuit (CC) TVs total 269 units: 107 units at 29 district parks including Wau Neighborhood Park, 108 units at 29 city parks including Seongsan Neighborhood Park, and 54 units at 13 hiking trails including Maebongsan.
Through this, a seamless security network was established throughout parks and hiking trails.
The intelligent closed-circuit (CC) TVs use artificial intelligence (AI) technology to detect movements of people and vehicles, and automatically transmit video to the 24-hour operated Mapo-gu Integrated Control Center when a dangerous situation occurs.
In particular, emergency bells linked with the Integrated Control Center and police stations have also been installed to enable rapid response in case of emergencies.
For this project, the district secured a total budget of 2.13 billion KRW, including 1.47 billion KRW from special adjustment grants and 660 million KRW from city funds. Going forward, based on big data analysis and an advanced integrated control system, the district plans to discover optimal installation locations and continuously expand crime prevention infrastructure.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, stated, “The expansion of intelligent closed-circuit (CC) TVs is a proactive measure for residents’ safety, and it is expected to greatly enhance crime prevention effects and residents’ perceived safety.” He added, “We will continue to do our best to create a safe Mapo-gu where everyone can live with peace of mind.”
