Yangju-si, AI Certification Training Course Successfully Completed
Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced on the 16th that it has completed the ‘AICE (AI Certificate for Everyone) FUTURE Level 3 Certification Acquisition Training (8 sessions),’ a private AI certification developed and operated by Korea Economic Daily and KT, for 5th and 6th grade students at Yulbit Elementary School in the city.

View original imageThis training was conducted over the past four weeks as part of the pilot project for the Education Development Special Zone, focusing on nurturing digital talents tailored to the region. Prior to the training, the city surveyed local elementary and middle schools in October to identify schools interested in the pilot education program.
The training was designed to cultivate talents who will lead future society in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution by enabling students to learn basic AI coding and hardware control programs to enhance their understanding of AI.
The detailed curriculum included: Session 1 - Understanding Artificial Intelligence; Session 2 - Operating principles of LEDs and making smart lamps; Session 3 - Using computational blocks with the concept of variables; and Session 4 - Mock evaluation and the AICE FUTURE Level 3 certification exam.
In particular, Yulbit Elementary School students showed high interest in AI education and actively participated. Among the 198 students who took the exam, 148 passed, achieving a 75% pass rate.
However, those who did not take the exam are expected to participate in future tests.

A Yangju City official stated, “We plan to expand various digital education programs to many schools so that local students can proactively lead the AI era. We will also actively strive to establish Yangju as a future-leading educational city.”
