Prosecutors Summon Army Chief of Staff Park An-su as Suspect in Martial Law Commander Case
Inquiry into Proclamation Announcement and Discussions with President Yoon
The prosecution summoned General Park An-su, former commander of the Martial Law Command, on the 14th. This is the second time since he was questioned as a witness on the 8th.
The Special Investigation Headquarters for Emergency Martial Law (headed by Park Se-hyun, Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office) called General Park in as a suspect and is currently investigating him. The prosecution is reportedly verifying the circumstances of the martial law proclamation, and the discussions held with President Yoon Seok-yeol and others in the Decision Support Office (Decision Office) within the Joint Chiefs of Staff Command and Control Center.
After President Yoon declared martial law on the 3rd, General Park, appointed as the Martial Law Commander, issued Proclamation No. 1, which contained unconstitutional provisions such as banning all political activities. That evening, General Park reportedly instructed Police Commissioner General Cho Ji-ho to follow orders to control the National Assembly while conveying the contents of the martial law proclamation.
