Gijang-gun Introduces Korea's First Virtual Reality-Based 'Baseball Experience Content' at Baseball Theme Park
Interactive Experience Using Digital Media... Providing a Unique Baseball Experience
On the 11th, Busan’s Gijang County announced that the ‘Baseball Experience Center and Indoor Baseball Practice Facility’ under construction within the Gijang Baseball Theme Park will introduce Korea’s first virtual reality-based baseball experience content.
The county is conducting a ‘Baseball Experience Content Detailed Design’ to create various baseball contents within the facility alongside the construction project of the ‘Baseball Experience Center and Indoor Baseball Practice Facility,’ with the service expected to be completed by the end of December.
Through this content design service, the county plans to expand the previously planned space and reorganize the content to secure an ‘interactive experience’ area using digital media within the Baseball Experience Center, providing visitors with a unique baseball experience.
In particular, the facility will move beyond simple pitching and batting experiences like screen baseball fields to offer realistic experience spaces utilizing various digital media. It will significantly incorporate unique and diverse experience contents that can engage various age groups, such as defense and base running experiences and a baseball experience area for children, clearly differentiating itself from other existing sports experience facilities.
County Governor Jeong Jong-bok emphasized, “The Gijang Baseball Theme Park is already known as a baseball cluster equipped with the highest level of baseball infrastructure in Korea. In the future, with the Baseball Experience Center and Korea Baseball Museum established, Gijang County will become a monumental space for Korean baseball, enhancing its status as the holy ground of Korean baseball, commemorating 110 years of Korean baseball and 40 years of professional baseball.”
The Gijang Baseball Theme Park (located in Dongbaek-ri, Ilgwang-eup) currently operates four regular baseball fields, one little league baseball field, and one softball field at the Gijang-Hyundai Dream Ballpark, along with one little league baseball field and one softball field. The Korea Baseball Museum and Baseball Plaza are scheduled to be constructed by the second half of 2026.
