Police Discuss Access Procedures with Security Office at Information Desk
The Presidential Security Service is discussing with the police, who arrived at the Yongsan Presidential Office on the 11th to investigate the 'Emergency Martial Law Incident,' about the search and seizure methods.
According to the Presidential Office, at around 11:45 a.m. that day, the Special Investigation Unit for Emergency Martial Law under the National Police Agency arrived at the Presidential Office reception area to conduct a search and seizure and is currently undergoing entry procedures.
Around noon, representatives from the Presidential Security Service came out, and the investigation team presented a search warrant to the Security Service. The investigation team stated that they sent 18 investigators to the Presidential Office to secure records related to the Cabinet meeting held during the martial law period.
The Presidential Security Service and the investigation team are currently negotiating the search and seizure methods in a meeting room on the second floor of the reception area.
The search warrant specifies the target as 'President Yoon Seok-yeol,' and the police stated that the number of personnel conducting the search and seizure is 18. It is reported that President Yoon Seok-yeol is not currently staying in the Presidential Office building.
A representative of the Special Investigation Unit explained, "The charges are basically treason," and added, "The President's office, the Cabinet meeting room, and the Security Service are subject to search and seizure." It has been confirmed that the search warrant was issued to verify the individuals who attended the Cabinet meeting during the martial law period.
A Presidential Office official said, "We were not informed in advance about the investigation team's announcement of the search and seizure at the Presidential Office," and added, "Currently, the Presidential Security Service and the investigation team are discussing the search and seizure methods."
