Lawyer Ha Jae-uk Elected as the 58th President of Gwangju Bar Association

The Gwangju Bar Association held an extraordinary general meeting on the 9th and elected Ha as the 58th president of the Gwangju Bar Association. His term will be two years, starting from January 2025.
In the election held that day, 521 out of 614 members (84.85%) participated in the vote. Ha won with 314 votes (60.27%), defeating candidate Kim Cheol-soo (47, 1st Bar Exam) who received 207 votes (39.73%).
In the election for two auditors, among four candidates, lawyer Jang Eun-baek (46, 4th Bar Exam) was elected with 193 votes (37.04%) and lawyer Kwon Oh-sung (50, Judicial Research and Training Institute class 33) was elected with 125 votes (23.99%).
Ha expressed his gratitude, saying, “I thank all the members who participated in the vote and encouraged us for the development and reform of our association despite the turbulent times,” and added, “I will do my best to create a Gwangju Bar Association that grows together with its members, never forgetting the advice for harmony and development.”
In this election, Ha pledged to expand mandatory training and free lectures, eradicate illegal brokers, support young lawyers, and expand education on artificial intelligence (AI) legal services.

Meanwhile, Ha graduated from Gwangju Songwon High School and Seoul National University, passed the 40th Judicial Examination, and completed the 30th class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute. After serving for 12 years at the Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office and Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, he has been working as a lawyer since 2016. He currently holds the positions of Legal Affairs Director and 1st Vice President of the Gwangju Bar Association.
