View original image‘KEEP 30,’ operated by the Korea Energy Agency, is a program in which 30 energy-intensive companies strive to reduce energy consumption over five years (2023?2027), with government support.
Since signing the agreement in October 2022, participating companies have been working to reduce their energy intensity by more than 1% annually. Energy intensity is the value obtained by dividing energy consumption by product output. A higher rate of improvement in energy intensity means energy was used more efficiently during the production process.
Hanil Cement recorded a 6.6% improvement in energy intensity last year, earning an S grade. This figure is higher than the average improvement rate of 2.2% among the 30 participating companies. Last year, Hanil Cement continued investing in facilities to reduce energy consumption, such as modifying some preheating towers at the Danyang plant to increase the use of alternative fuels.
