Democrats: "Yoon's Emergency Martial Law Declaration Partly Due to... Myeong Taegyun 'Silenced'"
Seo Young-kyo, the head of the Democratic Party of Korea's Myung Tae-gyun Gate Investigation Team, claimed on the 9th that "Kim Geon-hee's bulletproof vest and Myung Tae-gyun's 'mouth covering' are one of the reasons President Yoon Seok-yeol declared martial law."
Seo held a press conference at the National Assembly in the afternoon and said, "Eighteen days ago, Myung Tae-gyun told the media, 'If I go in, the regime will collapse within a month,'" adding, "It seems that President Yoon wants to block Kim Geon-hee's conversations on Myung Tae-gyun's phone, even if it means going to prison himself."
She further explained, "(President Yoon) might have tried to paralyze the National Assembly and the world by mobilizing the military and police out of devotion to his wife. If that is the case, it is absurd, but it is not entirely unrelated."
On the same day, the investigation team sent an official letter urging the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office to conduct an investigation.
In the press release, the investigation team stated, "Despite having filed three complaints against Yoon Seok-yeol, Kim Geon-hee, and Myung Tae-gyun for violations of the Public Official Election Act, Political Funds Act, and obstruction of business, the investigation remains sluggish," and sent a request for investigation to the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office.
They emphasized, "To verify the truth of the state manipulation, it is essential to secure the phones of Yoon Seok-yeol and Kim Geon-hee, as well as Myung Tae-gyun's so-called 'golden phone' and PC. These are key pieces of evidence."
The investigation team urged the seizure and search of all mobile phones used by President Yoon, First Lady Kim, and Mr. Myung from June 2021 to the present.

They added, "A more thorough investigation into the state manipulation by Yoon Seok-yeol, Kim Geon-hee, and Myung Tae-gyun is necessary to clearly reveal Yoon Seok-yeol's crime of rebellion," emphasizing, "The prosecution must fulfill its duty through securing definite evidence and investigation before the state manipulation case is transferred to a special prosecutor."
