Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 9th that it held the 8th Integrated Case Meeting of Dream Start at the Dream Start West Center on the 5th to explore ways to connect and cooperate within the local community for vulnerable children’s households.

View original imageAbout 10 officials from public and private institutions, including the Child Care and Child Protection Team, Songsan 2-dong Health and Welfare Team, Uijeongbu City Family Center, Gosan Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, and Uijeongbu City Disabled Welfare Center, attended the meeting to share the current status of the target children’s households and discuss cooperation and intervention directions among the institutions.
This case involves a situation where the main caregiver, the father, suddenly passed away, and the mother, who has intellectual disability and bipolar affective disorder, finds daily life very difficult and is raising the child, resulting in various physical and emotional problems for the child.
The attendees agreed to persuade the mother, who refuses separation from the child, and support the maternal grandmother to raise the child. In addition, to ensure the mother’s housing stability and emotional stability, the Disabled Welfare Center will take the lead in case management and cooperate accordingly.
