Animation 'Moana 2' Tops Weekend Box Office with 610,000 Viewers

Disney animated film 'Moana 2' topped the box office this weekend, attracting 610,000 viewers.
According to the Korea Film Council's integrated ticket sales system on the 9th, 'Moana 2' (directed by David Derrick Jr.) drew 610,404 viewers over the three-day weekend (6th to 8th), securing the number one spot at the box office. It held a revenue share of 36.4%. The film was released on the 27th of last month and has accumulated a total of 2,205,198 viewers.
'Moana 2' tells the story of Moana, who receives an unexpected call from her ancestors and embarks on a journey with the legendary hero Maui and new crew members to break the curse of a hidden ancient island to prevent the destruction of her tribe. Actors Auli'i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson provided voice acting. The first installment was released domestically in 2016 and attracted 2.3 million viewers.
'Firefighter' (directed by Kwak Kyung-taek), starring actor Kwak Do-won and adapted from the Hongje-dong arson incident, drew 569,338 viewers to rank second. Released on the 4th, it has recorded a cumulative audience of 744,196. The musical film 'Wicked' (directed by Jon Chu) attracted 184,066 viewers, placing third, while the volleyball film '1 Win' (directed by Shin Yeon-sik), starring actor Song Kang-ho, drew 99,439 viewers, debuting at fourth place in its first week.

Fifth place went to 'Hidden Face' (86,902 viewers), starring actors Song Seung-heon and Jo Yeo-jeong, followed by 'Gladiator 2' (12,681 viewers) in sixth place. The total number of moviegoers visiting theaters over the weekend was 1,640,449.
