'Deleted "From the Beginning" Too... What Happened to Kim Jaeseop's Complete Instagram Post Deletion?'
Among ruling party's young faction emphasizing principles,
criticism pours on SNS over voting absence
Kim Jae-seop, a moderate member of the People Power Party representing Seoul Dobong-gap, suddenly deleted all posts on his Instagram, drawing attention to the background of this action. As of the 9th, there are no posts left on Kim's Instagram. After deleting the posts, he left only one line in his bio saying "Starting over," but this was soon deleted as well.
Kim, 37 years old this year, was a leading figure within the ruling party who actively communicated with supporters through social networking services (SNS). Notably, he was elected to the National Assembly in the April general election by defeating candidate Ahn Gwi-ryeong in Dobong-gap, a district traditionally considered a stronghold of the Democratic Party. Thus, Kim gained attention as a next-generation leader representing the ruling party after winning in the challenging Dobong-gap district through active SNS activities.
However, after President Yoon Suk-yeol's declaration of martial law on the 3rd, Kim appears to have faced significant criticism. As a moderate within the party who usually emphasized "conviction," he reportedly received numerous criticisms and backlash from local constituents as well as opposition supporters. Among these, senior party member Yoon Sang-hyun (Incheon Dong·Michuhol-eul) mentioned on a YouTube channel on the 7th, "I was really grateful to Kim Jae-seop yesterday (the 7th). Kim told me, 'I'm getting a lot of harsh criticism in the district. What should I do?'" Yoon responded, "You can feel that way right now. But tomorrow, the day after, and a year from now, the public will change again."

He added, "Since many local students follow me, I had already limited political malicious comments, but there were too many harsh words (that students could see), so I also removed the posts."

Meanwhile, it is reported that People Power Party lawmakers are suffering from a large-scale "text bomb" attack related to the vote on the impeachment motion against President Yoon Suk-yeol. A party floor official told Yonhap News on the 8th, "Since the declaration of martial law, texts and calls have been pouring in. Even if I fully charge my phone before coming to work, I can't last two hours without a backup battery." He complained, "Even if we set certain words as blocked phrases, they send messages again using special characters, so blocking doesn't work properly." Prior to and after the vote on President Yoon's impeachment motion, it was often seen that aides in lawmakers' offices handed fully charged backup batteries to the lawmakers in front of the party meeting room.
