House Fire in Dongducheon... One Mobility-Impaired Basic Livelihood Security Recipient Dead
A fire broke out in a detached house in Dongducheon-si, Gyeonggi Province, resulting in the death of a man in his 50s who had mobility difficulties.

View original imageAccording to the police and fire authorities on the 9th, the fire occurred around 5:27 p.m. on the 8th on the first floor of a residential building in Dongducheon-dong, Dongducheon-si.
Firefighters who responded to a report from a neighbor saying, "Black smoke is coming from the house window," extinguished the fire in about 45 minutes, but found the man in his 50s, identified as Mr. A, dead inside.
No signs of arson or external intrusion suggesting criminal activity were found.
Mr. A was known to be a recipient of basic livelihood security benefits and lived alone without family.
Due to health reasons, he was reportedly mostly bedridden and unable to move around the house, leading police and fire authorities to presume that he was unable to evacuate when the fire broke out.

A police official stated, "We are conducting an investigation at the fire scene and are also gathering information about the deceased’s usual circumstances through the community service center and other sources."
