Goseong-gun, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Ham Myeong-jun) announced on the 5th that the Goseong-gun Agricultural Technology Center (Director Yoon Hyeong-rak) is accepting applications for certified seeds of rice, corn, and spring potatoes for the 2024 crop until the 24th at the Eupmyeon Administrative Welfare Center Industry Team.

View original imageThe certified rice seed variety is Odaemi, with an estimated quantity of 59 tons. The application unit is 20kg per bag, and generally, the seed requirement is 5 to 6 kg per 10 are (300 pyeong). Odaemi is an early-maturing rice variety with strong cold tolerance and is characterized by its large grains.
The certified corn seeds include three types of glutinous corn (Mibaek No. 2, Heukjeom No. 2, Mihyeukchal), two types for processing (Gangilok, Arichal), and one type for popcorn (Oryun Popcorn), with a total estimated quantity of 79 tons. The application unit for Gangilok is 2kg per bag, and for the other varieties, it is 1kg per bag. The seed requirement for corn is about 2 kg per 10 are (300 pyeong).
The certified spring potato seeds are Sumi and Dubaek, with a total estimated quantity of 28.5 tons. The application unit is 20kg per box, and the seed requirement is about 150 kg per 10 are (300 pyeong).
The supply price for certified rice seeds will be announced in January next year. The price for corn is 35,000 KRW per bag for Oryun Popcorn and 22,000 KRW per bag for other varieties. For spring potatoes, the price per 20kg box is 32,320 KRW for Sumi and 36,880 KRW for Dubaek.
The supply of certified seeds is scheduled to begin in January next year. For detailed supply quantities and prices, inquiries can be made at the respective Eupmyeon Administrative Welfare Centers and the Goseong-gun Agricultural Technology Center.
Director Yoon Hyeong-rak of the Agricultural Technology Center stated, “Certified seeds have excellent productivity and quality, which will help stabilize agricultural management. We urge those planning related farming next year to plan ahead and not miss the application deadline.”
